Business Analyst Intern

Job description

A bit about Rockstart

Rockstart, one of Europe's first multi-vertical startup accelerators, was founded in Amsterdam in 2011 with a goal to provide startups with access to the market, capital, knowledge, and community. We are an international team of 40+ professionals dedicated to support and empower startups to become scalable and change their world for the better

The role

We are looking for a high-potential and ambitious (Master) student to join our team as a Business Analyst Intern. In this internship you will work closely with our Startup Community Manager Sofia as well as our different Accelerator program teams to optimize and execute our startup sourcing strategy. This means that you dive deep into the world of the newest technologies and business models and that you will learn how to assess their commercial potential and quality.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Researching and scraping different startup databases, social media platforms, events and conferences, and other parts of startup ecosystems for startups that fit within the RS scouting criteria;
  • Use Growth Hacking tactics to reach innovative startups all over the world;
  • Identifying new scouting platforms (such as F6s, etc) & keeping up to date information on those platforms;
  • Creating, filling in and updating a database of potential startups to apply for the upcoming Accelerator programs;
  • Processing and analyzing all contact info (inbound emails, brochures, founders’ business cards, deal flow lists) from different entry points (events, word of mouth, drop-bys, intros from mentors/investors) received by any Rockstart employees;
  • Working together with the team members in order to establish the structural flow of information and a clear protocol for sourcing startups;
  • Creating tactics and templates for reaching out to startups;
  • Rating startups based on each program’s criteria;
  • Setting up an efficient system for capturing incoming startup related data;
  • Setting up reporting and analytics for applications, alumni statistics etc.

For me, Rockstart captures perfectly the momentum of what bright minds can do today when the desire to act is bigger than the fear of failure. You, as a Rockstart team member, get all the means and chances to express yourself because every email you write, any call you make, any spreadsheet you work on, and any meeting you attend to adds up to the well-being and prosperity of the global startup society. I get goosebumps every day I enter Rockstart office because I expect the day to be demanding but thrilling to live through.” Monika Dainytė about her scouting Internship in 2015.

Start: This is a continuous internship opening for which we’re always looking for high potentials. Many of our previous interns for this position have gone on to work for Rockstart or one of our startups after their internship. Right now we’re looking for someone to start asap.

Availability: 40 hours per week.

Duration: 6 months.

Remuneration: € 300 monthly + travel expenses + free daily lunch

Location: Amsterdam

Requirements

As an intern at Rockstart, we expect flexibility and a diverse set of skills from your side. You would describe yourself as eager, energized, analytical, structured, an all-rounder and a great communicator.

Next to this we require:

  • Being registered as a student during the course of the internship;
  • A special interest and/or experience in innovation/technology/startups;
  • Being able to work with data;
  • Fluency in English;
  • A ton of enthusiasm for Rockstart’s mission in supporting the best startups.
  • Bonus points: we would love our interns to bring something extra to the table, so we encourage you to mention  in your motivation any special knowledge or experience that in your opinion is very valuable for Rockstart.

Extra benefits

Big entrepreneurial network

At Rockstart you will not only be surrounded by our team, but also over 150 other driven and talented startup entrepreneurs at Rockstart Spaces (there are over 50+ startups situated here). You’ll have a chance to meet a mix of founders, designers, developers, marketing people and experienced Rockstart mentors. This makes a great opportunity to expand your network in the startup world and get to know all the great new innovations, apps and projects that are being developed here.

Intern community

As an intern you will never be alone. Since the startups at Rockstart Spaces have their own interns too, and Rockstart works with multiple interns in different roles at the same time, there is a strong, international intern community at Rockstart that likes to hang out and exchange experiences.

Events calendar

At Rockstart we have a great events space (the Ballroom), that is always being used for different events you can join, usually with drinks and snacks provided. As an intern at Rockstart you will even get access to some of the closed events that are, for example, part of the Rockstart Accelerator programs. These are normally only accessible to the 10 startups that get selected for each program from hundreds of applications every year.

Food & drinks

Interns at Rockstart get free lunch and unlimited fresh coffee brews and milk foam. We also have a free team breakfast every Monday and drinks (with personal stories!) on Fridays.

(Please apply only if you are / would be still studying or are enrolled into a study program during the course of the internship and are legally allowed to work in the Netherlands).
