Events & Facility Management Intern

Job description

A bit about Rockstart

Rockstart, one of Europe's first multi-vertical startup accelerators, was founded in Amsterdam in 2011 with a goal to provide startups with access to the market, capital, knowledge, and community.
Since then Rockstart has become the specialist in building entire ecosystems around specific domains—such as Artificial Intelligence and Smart Energy and our Digital Health program based in Nijmegen.

The role

During your Events & Facility Management internship you will focus on planning and executing all small and big events surrounding the Accelerator program as well as take care of the space and operations within the building.

In an average week, a lot of mentoring and coaching sessions as well as meetups and workshops take place. Next to this, we also organise big scale events such as our Selection Days and Demo Day with over hundreds of participants. As the Events & Facility Management intern, you will be an integral part of the events team, responsible for smooth timing and delivery of the small and big events during all programs running. During this internship you will learn the ins and outs of planning and orchestrating rockstar-worthy events

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Gathering information from the Accelerator teams regarding events timeline and events requirements for planning purposes;
  • Providing operational support with creating event marketing material, event evaluation forms and event related communication;
  • Being the main liaison point between the events team in Amsterdam and the Accelerator program team, reporting updates between the two teams;
  • Delivering events in alignment with requirements from both sides;
  • Keeping track of event budgets and spendings by means of reflecting spendings in budget documents specific to each event;
  • Keep the office facilities up and running by communicating with relevant stakeholders;
  • Ordering office materials;
  • Apart from organizing awesome events, you will need to have an overview of daily operations and undertake administrative tasks in order to ensure a professional, organised and friendly atmosphere within the office.

'It was definitely a great opportunity for me to do a placement at Rockstart as an Event & Operations intern for the Smart Energy Accelerator in 2016. I got to work closely with so many talented and motivated people and together we created many awesome events, such as Smart Energy Summit, Rockstart 5 Year Anniversary party and the Demo Day! At Rockstart people trust in you giving the responsibility to organize events from scratch and it’s great to see your projects happening live! Hands-on event planning experience in a dynamic startup environment – that’s how I could describe this place! And not to forget all the friendships that were born and useful connections that I made during this time!'
