Events Management Internship

Job description

A bit about Rockstart

Rockstart, one of Europe's first multi-vertical startup accelerators, was founded in Amsterdam in 2011 with a goal to provide startups with access to capital, market, community, and expertise. Since then Rockstart has become the specialist in building entire ecosystems around specific domains—such as Digital Health, Artificial Intelligence and Smart Energy. Rockstart is actively building up entrepreneurial infrastructures around the world with its acceleration verticals, as well as early-stage startup programs, Rockstart Impact and Rockstart Launchtrack. Since the inception, Rockstart has invested in 128 startups across 13 programs and supported them in their journey to raise more than €54 million and hire more than 600 people. Rockstart is an international team of 40+ professionals dedicated to support and empower startups to become scalable and change their world for the better.

In our HQ in Amsterdam, we’re hosting a thriving community of talented entrepreneurs. Rockstart Spaces is one of the best places in the Netherlands to start a company, meet like-minded people, share knowledge and work together. The building hosts several offices, a coworking space and a large event space.

The role

As the Events Management intern, you will be an integral part of the Spaces team, and you will split your time between planning and executing all small and large events in Rockstart Spaces, and taking care of the facilities and operations within the building.

During an average week, you will be arranging the practical aspects of workshops and meetings, as well as making sure that the building is looking its best. Next to this, Rockstart also organizes large scale corporate events and "Demo Day" with over hundreds of participants. During this internship, you will learn the ins and outs of planning and orchestrating rockstar-worthy events and running a 3000m2 building in central Amsterdam.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Supporting the entire process of planning, executing and evaluating events: creating documentation, communicating with vendors, setting up venues, troubleshooting during events, and participate in evaluation;
  • Providing operational support with creating event marketing material, event evaluation forms and event related communication;
  • Keeping track of event budgets and spendings by means of reflecting spendings in budget documents specific to each event;
  • Delivering events in alignment with the team's objectives;
  • Organising community events and meetups.
  • To have an overview of daily operations and undertake administrative tasks in order to ensure a professional, organised and friendly atmosphere in Rockstart Spaces;
  • Supporting the Facility Manager in improving Rockstart Spaces;
  • Keep the office facilities up and running by communicating with relevant stakeholders;
  • Ordering office materials.

Start: February 2019

Availability: 40 hours per week.

Duration: 5-6 months.

Remuneration: € 300 monthly + travel expenses + free daily lunch

Location: Amsterdam
