Rockstart, one of Europe's first multi-vertical startup accelerators, was founded in Amsterdam in 2011 with a goal to provide startups with access to the market, capital, knowledge, and community. Since then Rockstart has become the specialist in building entire ecosystems around specific domains—such as Digital Health and Smart Energy. Rockstart is actively building up entrepreneurial infrastructures around the world with its acceleration verticals, as well as early-stage startup programs, Rockstart Impact and Rockstart Launchtrack. Since the inception, Rockstart has invested in 108 startups across 11 programs and supported them in their journey to raise more than €45 million and hire more than 600+ people. Rockstart is an international team of 40+ professionals dedicated to support and empower startups to become scalable and change their world for the better.


The role

As Program Director for our Web & Mobile program your goal is to guide 10 of the most promising tech startups to develop products that truly disrupt their industries while also constantly improving the program content to maximize the benefit for all stakeholders. With your deep understanding of tech products and how to market them, you are a trusted, valued and hands on coach to each of the startups in the program, closely following and helping to accelerate their progress week by week.

Within your role, you oversee and architect each stage of the program, ensuring it delivers on it’s value proposition towards the startups as well as the investors, partners and mentors. You provide guidance to the Program Associate and other support teams within Rockstart on executing the selection, program planning and event organisation for the program. Your impressive network of entrepreneurs and advisors helps you connect the startups to relevant partners that can boost their growth.

Main responsibilities :

  • Continuous coaching of the startups to help them achieve their next milestones;
  • Orchestrating valuable and impactful connections with mentors, partners and investors;
  • Organizing and facilitating sessions and daily operations of the program together with the team;
  • Managing and maintaining relationships with strategic stakeholders (investors, mentors, corporate partners);
  • Proven track record of raising significant amount of fund or participated in fundraising activities;
  • Constantly evaluating and iterating program elements, improving the impact on the startup’s growth;
  • Inspiring and guiding a team of (international) professionals and interns.


What makes you the perfect candidate?

You are a visionary, someone who has been part of building a tech company and has a great understanding of technology. You may have started as a builder, but later gained experience as a leader in your company. People would describe you as a great coach, you use your deep insights into the tech world and your experience to help startups shape their business. You’re a people’s person. Sometimes the going can get tough and with your passion and dedication you have the ability to turn things around. With your getting stuff done attitude, you leave no stone unturned to achieve the ambitious goals of the program and the startups. With several deliverables, you always know how to master your to-do list and priorities. Lastly, you are sharp and know what is fluff and call it straight out. You give advice that matters and helps.

Function requirements:

  • At least 5 years of entrepreneurial experience either as a founder or on the management team of a tech startup;
  • Experience in managing and coaching people, as well as leading a team;
  • Knowledge of a startup’s lifecycle and investment strategies;
  • Proven track record of raising funding or participated in fundraising activities; 
  • Excellent communication skills in English;
  • Proactive, entrepreneurial, results-oriented attitude with an ability to work effectively in a non-hierarchical environment.

Bonus points:

  • Technical background with product development and design experience;
  • Have experienced a successful M&A process at a company where you were a part of the MT;
  • Good project management skills;
  • Experience as an early stage investor;
  • Having lived and/or done business in different cultures;

Start: Fall 2017

Availability: 40 hours per week.

Duration: Initial 12 month contract with intention to extend.

Remuneration: Based on experience and knowledge.
