Scouting Associate

Job description

A bit about Rockstart

Rockstart, one of Europe's first multi-vertical startup accelerators, was founded in Amsterdam in 2011 with a goal to provide startups with access to the market, capital, knowledge, and community. Since then Rockstart has become the specialist in building entire ecosystems around specific domains—such as Digital Health and Smart Energy. Rockstart is actively building up entrepreneurial infrastructures around the world with its acceleration verticals, as well as early-stage startup programs, Rockstart Impact and Rockstart Launchtrack. Since the inception, Rockstart has invested in 128 startups across 13 programs and supported them in their journey to raise more than €53 million and hire more than 600+ people. Rockstart is an international team of 40+ professionals dedicated to support and empower startups to become scalable and change their world for the better.

The role

In order to fuel our startup Accelerators with the best possible startups, we need to find and engage with the global community of entrepreneurial innovators.

As our Scouting Associate you will be responsible for on- and offline sourcing of entrepreneurs as well as collaborating with the Accelerator program teams on engaging with these startups. You work closely with our scouting team to create and execute a sourcing strategy for each program or scouting project that we run. Next to this you ensure an always up to date database of the latest and most interesting startups to emerge. You deliver clearly analyzed, complete and actionable data that allows Rockstart to make informed decisions on which startups to select into our programs.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Build and maintain a pipeline with top rated startup leads;
  • Use existing scouting tools and practices to source and screen potential startup leads for upcoming scouting projects;
  • Evaluate startup leads based on input from the different program teams;
  • Always look for ways to improve the selection process, tools and criteria;
  • Engage and arrange calls with startups to further assess if they fit our criteria;
  • Work with different program and project teams to ensure alignment.

What makes you the perfect candidate?

You are Smart and Savvy. When you see an assignment, you dive right to the bottom of it while never losing sight of the complete picture. You love creating systems and are always the first to spot a pattern. You are inventive, creative and you follow startup related news religiously. It takes you only minutes on a website to understand the business model and product of a startup. You have a knack for reading people and you connect easily with people from all kinds of places and backgrounds. You are curious by nature and always asking follow up questions to get to the bottom of something.

Must have requirements:

  • Bachelor or Masters’ degree in Business, Economics, Psychology or other related field;
  • Passionate about data-driven research methods;
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel;
  • Previous experience in recruitment or startup scouting;
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English;
  • Proactive, entrepreneurial, results-oriented attitude with strong team-working skills and ability to work independently;
  • Organised and extremely high attention to detail.

Availability: 40 hours per week.
