Job description

As Finance Director you will be heading the finance function being in charge of all financial, legal, and compliance matters and with full financial responsibility; spanning from accounting, statutory and financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, managing cash flow, finance processes, tax, supporting fundraising etc.


The position is a “player coach” role where you will be manager for the Funds Controller and Accountant, and a legal team consisting of a Head of Legal and a Legal Associate. You are expected to also be hands on for analyses, finance operations and projects. Reporting line is to the CEO.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the finance and legal team;

  • Being ultimately responsible for accounting and reporting, compilation of annual accounts, tax, managing cash flows and budgets;

  • Overall finance partner on funds & investments;

  • Sparring partner and advisor for CEO and other ExecTeam members;

  • Develop processes within finance & legal and together with the COO;

Job requirements

You're a finance professional, having moved from a similar role such as Finance Director, Finance Manager, or CFO in a smaller company, or perhaps Head of Controlling. You have leadership, management and people skills, with an ability to create a positive culture and build trusting relationships across the teams. You like driving workflows and know how to involve and collaborate with your team members. You have strong analytical skills and an ability to manage processes effectively and in a timely manner.


As a person you take pride in owning processes and tasks, guiding your team to success. You are open to learning and coaching with a hands on solution orientated approach.


Your skills and experience:

  • A broad finance experience, preferably with experience from Dutch financial reporting, planning and tax;

  • Preferably experience with supporting investment from the finance side which could be either from a venture capital company, a company with M&A activity, PE owner or similar;

  • People management experience and experience with managing teams preferred;

  • Experience in maturing and optimizing financial processes, reporting and systems;

  • Excel superuser and able to make financial models;

  • Great communication skills and can communicate clearly and effectively in English, both orally and in writing.


Start Date: April 2024

Weekly hours: 40 hours

Duration: This is a long-term position starting with (depending on location) a 7 month contract, with view to permanent
