Investment Analyst Internship

Job description

The Role:

The successful candidate will work with the Investment Managers and Fund Partners to: manage and monitor and report on the performance of startups in Rockstart’s established funds, work on sourcing deal flow and assist with initial research to shape and fundraise a new EUR30m fund to invest in technology startups across Europe. Based in Amsterdam.  


Just a few of the responsibilities:

  • Identifying and reviewing startups for potential investments from Rockstart’s accelerator-VC funds;
  • Analysing startup and fund performance for existing funds;
  • Gathering data for investor reporting and compiling draft investor reporting packs;
  • Researching key developments in technologies and market trends;
  • Helping develop fund marketing documentation, business plan and data room and identifying potential investors for new funds;

Professional Product / Thesis

During the internship the student will have the opportunity to complete a research project / or graduation thesis with the support and guidance of the Funds team. The initiative for the research project / thesis lies with the student.


About you:

You are smart and learn fast. When you see an assignment, you dive right to the bottom of it while never losing sight of the complete picture. It takes you only minutes on a website to understand the business model and product of a startup. You connect easily with people from all kinds of places and backgrounds. You are curious by nature and always asking follow-up questions to get to the bottom of something. You enjoy operational order and working in spreadsheets. You are a student and are looking to pursue a career as a startup entrepreneur, (strategy/M&A) consultant or a VC investor after graduation.

Must have requirements:

  • Students must be registered in a Dutch university or educational institute during the entire duration of the internship;

  • Pursuing a BSc/MSc degree in business, finance or economics

  • A desire to learn about the venture capital industry, tech startups, and entrepreneurship;

  • Strong ability to take on responsibility and work independently with a results-oriented attitude;

  • Analytical mindset and extremely high attention to details;

  • Well developed social and interpersonal skills, strong relationship management skills;

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel;

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English;

  • A ton of enthusiasm for Rockstart’s mission in supporting the best startups. 

Start: ASAP

Availability: 32 hours per week;

Duration: 3 - 6 months;

Remuneration: € 300 monthly based 40 hours
