Investment Analyst Internship

Job description

The Role:

The successful candidate will work with the Analysts and Fund Partners to: work on sourcing deal flow, assist with market research and other funds priorities (e.g. investor reporting). Based in Amsterdam.

Just a few of the responsibilities:

  • Deal flow sourcing: Generate a high-quality startup deal flow of warm leads in the Energy / Emerging Tech domains, proactively looking for deal sourcing channels (e.g. universities, incubators, accelerators).

  • Map Energy/Climate Tech/Emerging Tech related events in Europe to build Rockstart pipeline.

  • Business analysis: Help the Analyst team assess investment opportunities through competitive analysis, product, technology, team and market fit evaluation.

  • Market research: Continuously monitor the tech markets to keep up-to-date with hot trends and recent developments in technologies and applications.

  • Actively look for top entrepreneurs in the European Energy Space and European Emerging Tech Space to connect to Rockstart programs.


Professional Product / Thesis

During the internship the student will have the opportunity to complete a research project / or graduation thesis with the support and guidance of the Funds team. The initiative for the research project / thesis lies with the student.

Requirements

About you:

You are smart and learn fast. When you see an assignment, you dive right to the bottom of it while never losing sight of the complete picture. It takes you only minutes on a website to understand the business model and product of a startup. You connect easily with people from all kinds of places and backgrounds. You are curious by nature and always asking follow-up questions to get to the bottom of something. You enjoy operational order and working in spreadsheets. You are a student and are looking to pursue a career as a startup entrepreneur, (strategy/M&A) consultant or a VC investor after graduation.

Must have requirements:

  • Students must be registered in a Dutch university or educational institute during the entire duration of the internship; Pursuing a BSc/MSc degree in Business, Finance, Economics, STEM or other related fields.

  • A desire to learn about the venture capital industry, tech startups, and entrepreneurship;

  • Strong ability to take on responsibility and work independently with a results-oriented attitude;

  • Analytical mindset and extremely high attention to details;

  • Well developed social and interpersonal skills, strong relationship management skills;

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel;

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English;

  • A ton of enthusiasm for Rockstart’s mission in supporting the best startups.

Start: ASAP

Availability: 32 - 40 hours per week;

Duration: 3 - 6 months;

Remuneration: € 300 monthly based 40 hours

Location: Amsterdam or online remote.
