You would be working in Rockstart’s Emerging Tech Fund, the third and youngest fund in the Rockstart Fund family. Our goal as a team is to find and invest in the best startups in the European Emerging Tech domain, and to support the startups we’ve invested in during and outside our 5-month acceleration programs.
In the Fund, we focus on the themes Digital Health, Industry 4.0 and Advanced Analytics, Smart Cities and Societies, and Data Privacy and Security. We are an active, early stage investor looking to invest in about 10 companies per year, typically in the stage when the startups are just about or have just launched their product on the market.
As a student analyst in the Emerging Tech fund, you will work with our analyst, investment manager and the fund’s managing partner on sourcing great startups, assist with research into markets, technology, and teams, and assist on various other fund priorities (e.g. investor reporting).
Just a few of the responsibilities:
Deal flow sourcing: Generate a high-quality startup deal flow of warm leads in the Emerging Tech domain, proactively looking for deal sourcing channels (e.g. universities, incubators, accelerators).
Map Emerging Tech related events in Europe to build Rockstart Emerging Tech pipeline.
Business analysis: Help assess investment opportunities through competitive analysis, product, technology, team and market fit evaluation.
Market research: Continuously monitor the tech markets to keep up-to-date with hot trends and recent developments in technologies and applications.
Actively look for top entrepreneurs in the European Emerging Tech space to connect to Rockstart Emerging Tech program.
You are curious to get to know new technologies, to learn about and understand groundbreaking ideas, but also what drives people. You like diving deep into a task, but you’re also able to and like dividing your attention over various tasks or subjects – in this position, you can be exploring a digital health app preventing diabetes in the morning, and looking into AI for sorting waste in the afternoon.
You are a critical thinker who is quick to understand how a business model or product works. You enjoy a fast-paced environment and you are good at creating processes and order. The information and data you deliver in your docs and sheets is on point and can be relied on by the rest of the team.
You currently are a student, preferably in a technical/data-related domain, and you’re curious to explore if working in venture capital would be for you.
Must have requirements:
Pursuing a BSc/MSc degree in Data Science, STEM, Finance or other related fields;
A desire to learn about the venture capital industry, tech startups, and entrepreneurship;
Strong ability to take on responsibility and work independently with a results-oriented attitude;
Analytical mindset and extremely high attention to details;
Well developed social and interpersonal skills, strong relationship management skills;
Advanced knowledge of Excel;
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English;
A ton of enthusiasm for Rockstart’s mission in supporting the best startups.
A passion for sustainability and impact!
