Job description

The Role:

We are looking for a proactive team member with an entrepreneurial attitude and exceptional analytical skills to join our Venture Analysts team as an Intern. In this role, you will be responsible for fueling our fund with the most promising startups by finding and engaging with them within the global community of entrepreneurial innovators as a part of the Venture Analysts team. As a result, you will be the go-to person for the engaged pipeline with the most promising startups in Rockstart specific domains. You will develop a skill set that will allow you to identify investment opportunities while searching for startups and engaging with founders across all Rockstart investment domains. 


Just a few of the responsibilities:

  • Deal flow sourcing: Generate a high-quality startup deal flow of warm leads in four tech domains. This includes meeting with entrepreneurs, building relationships with startups, while proactively looking for other deal sourcing channels
  • Business analysis: Assess investment opportunities through competitive analysis, product, technology, team and market fit evaluation. Make decisions based on your analysis whether the team should engage with founders.
  • Market research: Continuously monitor the tech markets to keep up-to-date with hot trends and recent developments in technologies and applications. Always be familiar with the recent startup investment deals and understand the VC investment landscape.


Professional Product / Thesis

During the internship the student will have the opportunity to complete a research project / or graduation thesis with the support and guidance of the FGS team. The initiative for the research project / thesis lies with the student.


Requirements

About you:

You are smart and savvy. When you see an assignment, you dive right to the bottom of it while never losing sight of the complete picture. It takes you only minutes on a website to understand the business model and product of a startup. You connect easily with people from all kinds of places and backgrounds. You are curious by nature and always asking follow-up questions to get to the bottom of something. You follow startup related news religiously. You enjoy operational order and working in spreadsheets. You are a student and are looking to pursue a career as an entrepreneur or a VC investor after graduation.


Must have requirements:

  • Students must be registered in a Dutch university or educational institute during the entire duration of the internship;
  • Pursuing a BSc/MSc degree in Business, Finance, STEM or other related fields. 
  • A desire to learn about the venture capital industry, tech startups, and entrepreneurship;
  • Strong ability to take on responsibility and work independently with a results-oriented attitude;
  • Analytical mindset and extremely high attention to details;
  • Well developed social and interpersonal skills, strong relationship management skills;
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel;
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English.

Start: ASAP

Availability: Minimum 32 hours per week;

Duration: 6 months;

Remuneration: € 300 monthly

Location: Amsterdam or online remote.
